Capital Projects and Construction (CP&C) oversees all renovation and construction projects on campus. Our team works with campus clients on projects from the conception and design phases, through permitting and estimates, and on through bidding, construction, and final occupancy.
The Lead Architect position is a new position to the department that will coordinate the architectural activities of Capital Projects & Construction.
The person in this position will manage projects through phases including project design and drafting, determining materials to be used for projects, preparing contract documents, checking plans,submitting documents for permit, and coordinating inspection processes.
This position will create and review construction plans and design documents for building and code compliance, recommending best practices and alternative designs where appropriate.
The Lead Architect will supervise the architectural team which consists of 2 full time employees and 2-3 student employees.
8 years work experience performing architectural work either working under a licensed architect or as architect of record.
Work experience must include: - 3 years of construction administration - 2 years design team management - 2 years of construction project management
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
Licensed Architect in Oregon (or if license is in another state, the ability to obtain Oregon license within 6 months).
Proficient in the preparation of construction documents including utilization of computer aided drafting and design software (CADD).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of people.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous projects.
Ability to work independently, take initiative and be self-directed.
Proficient in the following computer systems: - MS Office - Scheduling software - AutoCAD software
Valid State-issued driver’s license.
Successful completion of a background check.
Master's degree in architecture.
Campus facility design experience.
Experience working in a higher education environment.
