Performs routine electrical work on campus primary electrical distribution systems requiring professional skill and technical knowledge of medium voltage systems. Responsible for maintenance and repairs or new construction to the campus primary electrical distribution system. Maintains campus site lighting and utility plant electrical maintenance.
40% - Essential - Electrical and Utility Plant Maintenance: Maintains, repair replace electrical equipment and apparatus including, but not limited to, single and three phase motors, starters, generators fused and non-fused disconnect switches and circuit breakers. Read, understand plans/specifications and apply them to work in the field. Layout and install electrical conduit systems consisting of rigid steel, electrical metallic tubing, plastic ducting and prefabricated bus duct. Set up and operate special power and lighting systems required for campus functions.
20% - Essential - Preventive Maintenance: Perform predictive/preventive maintenance, repair and construction associated with campus primary electrical distribution systems (12470V/4160V) to include tasks such as maintenance/repair/replacement or new construction to underground duct bank cable system, including tunnel system, manholes, underground vaults, overhead lines and poles, circuit switching equipment, substations, transformers, utility right of way maintenance and building switchgear.
20% - Essential - Maintenance and Repairs: Perform maintenance, repair and installation of campus site lighting and systems including walkways, streets, parking lots and other outdoor areas.
20% - Essential - Safety: Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work site including work vehicles support buildings and yards. Practice safe work practices that include documented training, proper and adequate use of PPE, attend safety meetings and discussions, proper use of hand and power tools, proper operation of mobile apparatus and awareness of work environment. Responsible for compliance with all applicable OSHA safety mandates and enforcement of Clemson's LOTO policy and published Electrical Safety and Confined Space Programs. Adhere to all EPA/DHEC/NEC/NESC codes and regulations.
High School or Equivalent - And trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
