The Associate Director of Student Life for Housing Operations provides oversight for a comprehensive campus housing program for undergraduate residential students, which includes the coordination of openings/closings, housing selection and first year placements, serving as the primary liaison to Facilities, and management of the StarRez housing software. The Associate Director also provides direct supervision to 2-3 Assistant Directors, serves as a senior member of the on-call system, and serves as a member of the office leadership team, comprised of two other Associate Directors and the Director of Student Life. The Associate Director reports directly to the Director of Student Life. This position is a live-on position and housing near campus is provided.
Because the Associate Director is part of a larger Student Life team, this position also provides the unique opportunity to develop skills in high-level crisis response, staff supervision, staff development, and student conduct. On a small collaborative campus, the Associate may also be involved in campus-wide initiatives including service as a mentor in Messina – Loyola's living learning initiative.
The Office of Student Life is comprised of the Director, three Associate Directors, eight Assistant Directors, two Administrative Assistant, 20 Graduate Residence Coordinators (GRCs), 80 Resident Assistants (RAs), and a security desk staff of approximately 200 students. Loyola is a primarily residential campus, with approximately 85% of students living on campus for all four years. In addition to 17 residence halls, Loyola also has a master lease with a nearby apartment complex. The Office of Student Life also provides support to students who live off campus.

Primary Job Responsibilities Occupancy and Assignments oDevelop and manage an occupancy plan to address housing supply and demand and forecast occupancy oDevelop and manage the housing selection process for upperclass students oDevelop and oversee the housing application process for first year students oComplete the housing assignment process for all first year students, transfer students, and students on the housing wait list
Housing Processes oManage all residence hall openings and closings oCoordinate University-wide logistics to support fall semester opening oOversee all housing processes including keys, contract extensions/early arrivals, room condition reports, room changes, Move Week, etc. oDevelop housing policies related to various areas, including early arrivals, contract extensions, and the housing selection process
Partner with Facilities oManage emergency response to facilities related issues, which may include relocation/developing alternative housing plans for students oDevelop strong working relationships with Facilities staff and communicate with the Director of Facilities about issues or concerns oRepresent Student Life at all pertinent Facilities related meetings oHelp coordinate campus-wide programs, such as pest control, cleaning, and other projects related to University housing oHelp address concerns proactively and plan for residence hall improvements/construction. Assist in the development of renovation plans and the implementation of new residential facilities
Supervision and Team Leadership oSupport both the departmental and divisional goals focused on diversity and inclusion oDirectly supervise 2-3 Masters-level Assistant Directors oIndirectly supervise six Assistant Directors in collaboration with peer Associates specifically in regards to housing operations oServe in the senior level on-call rotation for campus-wide emergencies potentially responding to emergencies in all areas of residential living. During rotation, must be within 30 minutes of campus if a response is needed oCommunicate regularly with peer Associates and Director to discuss office needs, strategic planning, and office processes
Qualifications oMaster's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling in Student Affairs or a related field o3-5 years of post-Master's professional experience o3 years of residence life and on-call crisis response experience oDemonstrated ability to collaborate and work successfully with campus partners oExperience supervising professional staff and availability during night and weekend hours oDemonstrated knowledge of housing operations and the unique aspects of a primarily residential campus oDemonstrated ability to support and advocate for underrepresented students
