The Phoenix, AZ office of Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Designer candidate with advanced computer aided design (CAD) skills and meaningful experience in engineering and infrastructure design to support the Infrastructure Branch, primarily the Transportation practice group.
Key Responsibilities •Support transportation/traffic projects and clients with accurate drafting and design •Design or redesign complex layouts and drawings from general written or verbal specifications from project team •Create exhibits and documents for presentations and reports •Work with project team to investigate and resolve problems with existing designs and make corrections to drawings as requested by the senior staff •Adhere to discipline-specific CAD standards •Provides design, production and coordination of construction drawings in support of transportation/traffic engineering projects or tasks on multi-disciplinary projects •Work involves analytical ability to select and recommend design procedures, interpret complex ordinances and specifications, analyze design requirements and provide design solutions
Skills / Qualifications
Education and Experience •Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent technical discipline plus five years of relevant experience
•Associate's degree plus a minimum of 10 years of progressive drafting and design experience, including at least five as a Designer
•HS diploma (or equivalent) plus a minimum of fifteen years progressive drafting and design experience, including at least eight as a Designer
Knowledge and Qualifications •Proficiency in CAD strongly desired, preferably using AutoCAD as design platform •Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from project team members, including subject matter experts and project leadership •Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form •Mathematic skills, including basic understanding and use of basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry •Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing •Proficiency in MS Office •Proven ability to read and understand both 2D and 3D drawings •Ability to read, understand and interpret, contours, topographic mapping, and data generated by land surveyors •Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
