Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Carpenter I for the University Facilities and Capital Planning Department.
The primary purpose of the Carpenter I position is to perform building related construction, maintenance and repair to assure safe and functional facilities as well as related equipment installation, furniture installation and repair. Oversees work of other mechanics and/or trades helpers.
Performs routine maintenance on building structural features, architectural features, wall systems, flooring system, ceiling systems, windows and doors.
Responds to all carpentry trouble calls and requests throughout the facilities.
Inspects, tests, assures integrity of all related building features and systems throughout the facilities.
Requests work orders, completes work orders and issues status reports to supervisor and/or management.
Reads blue prints, diagrams, specifications, and lays out/performs work in accordance with all standards, regulations and/or applicable codes.
