Pinnacle Venue Services has an exciting opening for the Director of Events & Operations at the new UMBC Event Center, located on the campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Opening in January 2018, the event center is a 172,000 square-foot multi-purpose venue with a seating capacity of 5,000+. The new event center will host UMBC NCAA athletic events including men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball, as well as provide a venue for a variety of events including concerts, featured speakers, commencement, and banquets.
The Director of Events & Operations will direct all aspects of event supervision including set-up and production, as well as oversight of event staff. It will oversee building security and is responsible for the overall management of operations of the facility, including policy formulation, production, maintenance, housekeeping, purchasing, contracted services, and construction. This position will assure the highest quality service to UMBC, UMBC Athletics, and all users and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have: •3-5 years of demonstrated knowledge of facility operations, event production, and personnel management •Ability to apply conflict resolution and problem-solving skills in a team-oriented environment •Experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, contractors, and facility users •Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. •Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and irregular hours. •Experience in opening a venue is preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently operate a computer and other office devices. Employee must constantly communicate via telephone, email and in-person and exchange accurate information. Due to business demands and event operations, employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Minimum of three years of increasing responsibility in facility operations and management.
Graduate of an accredited four-year college
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs; experience with AutoCAD preferred
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and irregular hours
