Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSEProvides desktop and server support for the following departments: Office of the President, Office of the Provost, AVP Budget, Planning and Analysis, Office of General Counsel, VP Government and Community Affairs, Board of Governors, VP for Economic Development, and Chief of Staff. Installs, maintains and repairs all hardware and software for approximately 150 computers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSInstall, upgrade, repair, and/or modify desktop computers and local area network file servers; configure and connect customers, printers, and other devices to network servers. Manage a domain controller. Responsible for provisioning/deprovisioning computer and user accounts. Set up, maintain and troubleshoot approximately 10 Windows Servers, including SQL server.Monitor the assigned system and/or network to track operating efficiency and resolve potential problems before they occur. Maintain accurate and current records including statistical reports, inventories, technical documentation, User ID's, databases, and the like.Follow established procedures for backup and recovery and establish file structures as required on Windows r2 servers, and setup and maintain SQL server databases. Provide first-tier support for the system by resolving operating problems and coordinating the resolution of more complex issues with IT or vendor support staff and by providing technical support for network applications and personal computers. Install new or enhanced applications and/or hardware, assist in the installation of new networks, and evaluate and recommend hardware and software purchases for assigned unit. Provide training and assistance to customers in desktop applications or general network or system issues. Serve as a primary liaison with internal IT or vendor staff and coordinate upgrades, enhancements, or additions to the assigned system or network.
Qualifications: EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in a computer-related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.EXPERIENCEWindows Server experience required. SQL or other database experience required. Windows Active Directory experience required.
