Kean is seeking an exceptional and committed individual to fill the position of Assistant or Associate Vice President for Campus Planning and Facilities. Under the direction of the Vice President for Planning, the Assistant/Associate Vice President for Campus Planning and Facilities oversees campus facility planning for new construction and remodeling/renovation. The Assistant/Associate Vice President acts as campus liaison between architecture and engineering firms, planning consultants and the University; organizes and directs the management team for day-to-day Campus Planning and Facilities operations of the University’s Physical Plant; and assures continued and effective function in support of academic, administrative and student services. The Assistant/Associate Vice President is expected to develop and sustain high quality operations, maintenance and aesthetics of campus facilities, infrastructure, grounds and vehicles and prepare the campus for all major events. The Assistant/Associate Vice President provides vision and leadership through high quality campus planning and facilities support services, with a strong emphasis on customer service.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree; six years of professional experience as a manager/supervisor in facilities planning, particularly in education with knowledge of the needs of residential facilities, design and construction projects; knowledge of Federal, State and Local building code requirements and health and safety regulations; and a driver’s license valid in the State of New Jersey is required for appointment at the Associate level. Four years is the minimum experience requirement for an appointment at the Assistant level. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills are essential. Master’s degree or a BA/BS in Architecture or Engineering; professional experience in facilities planning, design and construction projects in higher education; and knowledge of managing trades is preferred.
