(3) Full-time positions; 37.5 hours per week; flexible schedule days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
Starts at $45,000 annually based on qualifications
Performs routine and complex compliance inspections of facilities, including but not limited to: food establishments; public and private schools; institutional child-care facilities; private water systems; private sewage disposal systems and public swimming pools
Prepares inspection reports, documents all violations, issues notices of corrective action and ensures future adherence through periodic follow-up visits
Conducts investigations related to food-borne illness or environmentally acquired diseases
Reviews, and approves or denies, construction applications and plans for food establishments, care facilities, private sewage disposal and private water supply
Conducts presentations on food safety and other health or sanitary related topics
Provides mentoring and training for new or less experienced staff
Demonstrates considerable understanding of environmental health practices, procedures and laws
Interacts with internal and external customers in a professional manner
Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to client privacy laws
Responds to after hours emergency calls on a rotating basis
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health or a related field which required a minimum of thirty semester hours or forty-five quarter hours in the physical and/or biological sciences, and three years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must have a current Licensed Environmental Health Practitioner (LEHP), Registered Sanitarian (RS), or equivalent.
Candidates who are able to take and pass the LEHP exam within the first six months of employment are encouraged to apply and will be considered.
