The University of Iowa, Museum of Art (https://uima.uiowa.edu/)is seeking a personable, skilled administrative support professional to provide clerical, office, communications and information management. This is a temporary position planned at 50-75% initially, to be evaluated and adjusted accordingly until the permanent UI Museum of Art director is on board. Provide administrative support to the director and staff of theUI Museum of Art including clerical, office administration, and communications support and information management. Examples of work include serving as liaison with vendors and constituents, supply and office inventory and management, front desk and phone triage. Additional key duties include assisting the manager of communications, marketing and membership with events and copy/edit of various outgoing correspondence/documents; managing and maintaining the calendar and activities of the interim dept. director. The successful candidate for this role must be comfortable with ambiguity and adaptable to change as the museum is in a transition phase with planning and building a new site as well as hiring a permanent dept. director.
Reasonable experience (typically 6mo or more) in an administrative role. Demonstrates working proficiency in accuracy and attention to detail, in particular in sending communication. Demonstrates working proficiency in written communication including copy/edit, command of language, and clarity of thought. Demonstrates basic proficiency in resource management and organization (i.e. event planning experience). Demonstrates communication techniques with a customer experience focus (constructive, collaborative). Demonstrates working proficiency in effective use of desktop and standard office tools and software. University and/or University of Iowa institutional knowledge and experience highly desired.
Additional Salary Information: This classification is in the 2B pay level
(https://hr.uiowa.edu/professional-pay/structure-b) and we anticipate
compensation at $18.00-$20.00 per hour, initially.
