BT Construction, of Henderson, CO is seeking applications for a Field Service Mechanic / Shop Mechanic that can work with minimal direct supervision in diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing predominantly Caterpillar equipment, heavy hauling trucks and miscellaneous company specific specialized equipment.
Under some direct supervision, the Mechanic is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, reconditioning, overhaul and maintenance of company heavy equipment and/or components. Depending on location and assignment, will be responsible for some or all of the functions and duties listed below.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Engages in required safety practices at all times
Ability to mentor and be a working mentor
Reads and understands the manufacturers' Operation, Maintenance, Parts and Service Manuals per machine type and complies with its contents
Inspects machines for damage and notifies the Equipment Manager regarding any specific damage that was found
Attends training as requested and needed
Communicates effectively with Equipment Manager and Shop Foreman to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repairs are understood and followed up on
Field service oriented, however some shop service is required
Clean and professional appearance
Uses safe working practices and follows all company safety requirements
Familiarity with Caterpillar SIS parts ordering system
Cleans, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
Prepares, inspects, and operates machines prior to completion
Removes, disassembles, assembles, and installs components and parts
Determines reusability of parts in accordance with reusability guidelines
Orders replacement parts ensuring that parts orders are correct and complete at the time of order
Services and maintains equipment owned by the company
Tests, measures, and adjusts engine and machine systems and components
Diagnoses and troubleshoots machine and engine malfunctions and failures
Maintains a clean and organized work area
Makes recommendations as to repairs
Makes parts replacement decisions assuring optimum economic reusability
Accurately troubleshoots and repairs equipment the first time
Reads, understands, and applies electrical and hydraulic schematics to repair work
Safely rigs or hooks components for lifting
Removes, repairs, and installs major components in varying configurations of equipment
Makes determinations in the field on possible warranty repair and guidelines, communicating decisions to Equipment Manager
Maintains service vehicles in a safe, clean and good working order
Prepares accurate and complete time card entries and turns them in on time
Prepares inspection and maintenance reports
Correctly charges work to appropriate work orders
Interacts with team on any and all repair concerns
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma or GED with graduation from an accredited technical school in diesel engine or earthmoving repair preferred
Minimum Experience Required: 10 to 15 years in heavy equipment, engine, or electric power generation system repair.
Administrative / Clerical Experience: Basic Level
Technical and Mechanical: Master Level
Required Skills and Competencies:
Valid Driver’s License and ability to attain a CDL – (Class B minimum)
Reading / Writing Skills
Computer Skills: Basic ability to search for and enter data into a computer.
