Assistant Master Electrician, Assistant Props Master, Assistant Technical Director National High School Institute (3 positions)
National High School Institute: These are 5-week summer positions, full-time day and evening commitments, June 27th – August 4th, 2018. Salary is TBD based on qualification/experience. Room and board is available.
The Assistant Master Electrician position, Assistant Props Master position, and the Assistant Technical Director position are for the National High School Institute (colloquially known as The Cherub Program) located at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.
Independently manage select projects.
Attend technical rehearsals, performances, production meetings, strike, and other events as scheduled.
Teach and supervise students in during light hangs, focuses, changeovers, and strike.
Insure safety of those working in shops and theaters.
Hang, circuit, focus, and maintain eight repertory productions with Master Electrician and students.
Implement any onstage practicals or atmospheric effects with Master Electrician.
Price-out, build, and procure properties for eight repertory productions.
Develop paperwork for props run crew.
Report to the Props Designer and assist in all technical aspects related to NHSI’s Theatre Arts program.
Analyze and price out scenic designs with Technical Director
Draft constructions drawings with Technical Director
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience working in technical theater.
Self-motivated, strong work ethic and commitment to collaborative work
Supervisory/leadership experience, preferably in a fast-paced academic environment
Electrician: Experience with ETC Ion lighting console, moving lights, LED lights, and traditional instruments.
Props: Knowledge of standard props construction techniques including crafts, carpentry, painting, and sewing.
Technical: Knowledge of general construction techniques including carpentry, welding, rigging, and reading technical drawings.
