Construction Inspector needed for construction projects in the Puget Sound region. The construction inspector plans and coordinates field inspection activities, reviews work to ensure that construction complies with contract documents and job specifications, prepare summary reports and respond to contractor and client construction questions.
This position will assume the day-to-day field duties of federally funded public works construction projects for local agencies. The position requires a thorough understanding of highway construction and prior experience working on federally funded road and bridge construction projects. The construction inspector will monitor and document all contractor daily field operations. Field operations will include TESC measures, clearing / grading, embankment construction, drainage installations, utility relocations, bridge construction, wall construction, HMA paving, concrete paving, traffic signal installation, roadway lighting, traffic markings and other miscellaneous construction operations. Requires the ability to work in a team environment, and provide solutions to construction field issues and be able to clearly articulate both verbally and in writing. This position requires climbing, working at heights and work in inclement weather. This is project based position eligible for full-time employment benefits. Duration of assignment is approximately 2 years.
BSCE or 2-year degree from a construction or engineering technician program
Directly applicable job experience may be substituted for degree
Minimum of 5 years of relevant road and bridge construction inspection experience
Experience in road and bridge construction as owner’s representative
Experience with documentation procedures for federally funded projects
Spreadsheet and project management software applications, such as Microsoft Project, Excel and Word
