Laboratory Schools: Extended Day Assistant Teacher-1

The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools runs an Extended Day program supporting 700+ students. We are searching for part-time Teaching Assistants to work with children on our Early Childhood campus (N3 through 2nd Grade) or our Historic Campus (3rd through 8th Grade).
Early Childhood Assistants will collaborate with the Teaching Intern as well as up to one other Assistant in managing the daily tasks of an enriching, warm, and organized after school program.
Each teaching team works with a group of same-aged students in Nursery 3 - 2nd Grade through the afternoon hours.
Each day consists of providing a snack, going outside, engaging in developmentally-appropriate and fun activities, including arts and crafts, music, science, games, as well as plenty of time for constructive imaginative play.
Lower & Middle School Assistants will collaborate in supporting students either in grades 3 through 5 or grades 6 through 8 in a variety of activities after school including homework, arts & games, gross motor play, cooking, computer time, and more.
Assistants will work with Lower and/or Middle School students to provide them with rewarding experiences, while building their capacity for self-direction.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Strong customer service skills as well as a friendly and professional demeanor.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience working with children preferably with previous experience in a camp or school setting.
Technical Knowledge or skills:
Comfort working with mobile technology is strongly preferred.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
