This position provides skilled, journey level services for maintaining the appearance of OHSU facilities. This includes applying surface coatings, paints, stains, and wall coverings to interior, as well as exterior surfaces, such as roadways, buildings and parking structures. Preparing and finishing wood surfaces including cabinets, furniture and other items and the design and fabrication of high-quality signage. The work will be performed in all OHSU owned and designated leased buildings both on and off the Marquam Hill campus. This position reports to the General Construction Manager.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Preparation and Painting . Apply coatings to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces by brush, roll, or spray. Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, and repairing damaged surfaces. Mix coatings to match existing surface colors and finishes. Install decorative vinyl wall covering and wall and door protection materials. Tape and mud new sheetrock installations and prepare for painting. Perform minor sheetrock wall repair.
Wood Finishing . Finish sand and prepare wood casework for final stain and finish. Use spray booth and equipment to apply lacquer finishes. Prepare existing wood items for refinishing. Mix stains to match existing.
Signage and Exterior Painting. Layout, fabricate and install interior and exterior signage. Layout and apply surface striping for roads, sidewalks and parking areas.
Work With Others. Assist other craftspeople in preparing areas for repair and construction. Assist customers with questions and problems relating to maintaining their environment.
