The Department of Theatre and Dance invites applicants for the position of Studio Theatre Technical Director and Shop Supervisor. The Studio Theatre Technical Director and Shop Supervisor is responsible for the planning, construction, and mounting of scenery for all Studio theatre and dance productions; oversee the timely completion of all scenic and property elements for Department of Theatre and Dance University Theatre productions in Strother Theatre; maintain and supervise the effective maintenance of all Strother theatre facilities and related equipment; supervise and maintain the Sound and Light Shops.

Minimum qualifications: Master’s degree in theatre, dance, or related field from an accredited college or university completed by August 1, 2018. At least one year of experience in a position within the field of technical theatre and experience as a carpenter.
Candidates must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred qualifications: Master of Fine Arts degree in Technical Direction from an accredited college or university. Over three years of technical direction experience. Excellent verbal communication skills; highly organized and effective problem solver; able to balance the teaching and production needs of an active undergraduate program.
Preferred other: Knowledge of welding; experience as an electrician and/or sound engineer. Experience as a live sound mixer.
