We’re looking for a talented hybrid motion graphics designer/video editor with strong animation skills to help develop The Intercept video department’s visual style; create motion graphics for our videos and website; edit short, promotional clips for social media; assist our video and design teams with graphical elements, such as titles cards, lower thirds, subtitles, and other video packaging elements; and assist in editing video when needed. The motion graphics designer/editor must be able to work collaboratively with our video producer, creative director, and audience engagement team; must have a strong visual sense that fits stylistically with The Intercept’s award-winning design; and ideally have a strong understanding of and interest in The Intercept’s mission and content.
This is a six- to nine-month contract (possible temp to perm) in NYC.

Background & Qualifications:
At least 3+ years of experience in motion graphics and video editing
Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically After Effects and Premiere
Excellent motion graphics and animation skills
Strong layout, illustration, graphic design, and typography skills
Strong ability to translate ideas into creative solutions
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and receive and incorporate constructive feedback
Ability to develop reusable templates
Ability to bring infographics to life with motion and animation
Ability to respond to shifting priorities and demands based on organizational needs
