• Manage third party fire protection and boiler/machinery inspections. Attend loss control site visits with all third party inspectors. Review all loss control reports to ensure accuracy with site visits. • Work with third party loss control firm and operations/engineering/construction personnel on recommendations through to closure. Follow up with power plant management as needed until completion of recommendation is obtained either via implementation of recommendation, describing alternative action or rationale for not implementing recommendation has been communicated to the appropriate third parties. • Provide various internal personnel including insurance department as well as operations/engineering/construction personnel with reports and analysis on recommendations and trends. Develop corporate wide recommendation responses to third party loss control firm and/or insurers as needed. • As needed, prepare underwriting information reports for submittal to third party insurers in respect of facility construction, common and special hazards, fire protection and management risk control programs for property, boiler and machinery, liability and course of construction insurance risks. Participate on road shows with underwriters as needed. • Support engineering group with third party pressure vessel jurisdictional programs at operational and construction projects. Resolve issues with state permits and interact with vessel jurisdictional inspectors as needed. • Interact with third party service provider, insurance and operations personnel on loss control related issues until resolved. • Work with engineering and construction on development for fire protection and loss control specifications for new projects. • Manage fire protection upgrade program to include identifying issues, developing specifications for changes, soliciting bids from third parties and budgeting/forecasting costs appropriately. Work closely with engineering and operational personnel on projects. •Provide fire protection code interpretations, design guidance, and testing recommendations consistent with nationally recognized codes and standards. •Ensures professional competence and keeps abreast of changes within the industry by maintaining internal and external contacts, attending relevant seminars and reviewing written industry material. •Other duties as requested.
1. Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution. 2. Ability to travel significantly throughout the year (approximately 25-30%) 3. Strong oral and written communication skills 4. Proficient in Microsoft software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.) 5. 5 years Power Industry experience required 6. 5 Years Property loss control experience required 7. 5 Years Experience in design/construction/testing of fire protection and suppression systems preferred
1. Member Grade – Society of Fire Protection Engineers or Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Fire Protection desired 2. 5 Years Experience in performing Risk Assessments preferred
