The Brown University Division of Advancement seeks qualified applicants for the position of Senior Report Developer.
The Senior Report Developer provides technical programming support and performs complex data extracts and queries, designs robust custom reports and KPI dashboards, develops custom integrations and data tables, and prepares related data analyses for a wide range of Advancement clients. This position requires solid analytical, application development, data management, communication, interpersonal and task delivery skills.
The successful candidate must develop a broad and deep understanding of complex Advancement business functionality and requirements, and the ability to develop and deliver solutions that meet those requirements. Efficiency, multitasking and the ability to prioritize tasks with limited direction is crucial to success.
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Information Sciences / Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience, with 5-8 years of experience in computing/software analysis, database structure, query and design, programming / report writing, database implementation and enhancements required.
5-8 years with SQL, T-SQL, ETL, Visual Studio, or similar applications demonstrated ability to perform complex data extracts, queries, custom reports and KPI dashboards required.
Foundational data modeling skills and experience constructing data calculations and formulas strongly preferred.
Ability to quickly and efficiently translate business needs into delivered technical solutions.
Knowledge of proper methodologies and principles related to technical business applications, systems design, user support, and programming.
Ability and desire to keep up with current technologies.
Ability to work independently and proactively, yet function in a collaborative team environment, exhibiting self-reliance, dependability, trustworthiness, good listening skills, and an ability to form effective working partnerships with colleagues.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in order to solve problems and to meet challenging and changing deadlines.
Solid interpersonal skills with proven ability to successfully interact and collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional manner, exhibiting excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrating tact and diplomacy working with a wide variety of personalities.
High degree of professionalism, ethical sensitivity, confidentiality and discretion; proven ability to apply good judgment and responsible decision-making.
