The space planner is responsible for supporting the center's mission by developing functional space program's and architectural test-fits. The primary focus of this position is the creation of medium and long-term strategies for the development and use of office space resources that are cost-effective, sustainable and healthy; that support knowledge sharing, teaming and innovation; and that provide the much-needed capacity to support the institution's growth in Manhattan and regionally. You will be responsible for: Working with leadership, physicians, scientists, administration, staff and other content experts to develop functional space programs for anticipated, requested and approved projects, including: volume projections; staffing plans; patient, staff and materials flows; patient and staff amenities; storage and equipment requirements. Preparing, reviewing and issuing programming and space planning deliverables in graphic and quantitative formats from a range of source materials including space surveys, end user interviews, clinical program information, functional analyses, benchmarking and other sources of information with an emphasis on optimal use of resources, improved functionality, and workplace trends. Securing informed space planning approvals from stakeholders to establish goals, define expectations and meet deadlines. As needed and where possible, identify swing space to mitigate the impact of construction on operations. Evaluating requests for incremental space and/or renovations with respect to space allocation standards and future space plans; resolve conflicts, track commitments, evaluate space use efficiency, and address acute needs. Reviewing test fits and initial schematic designs prior to user review to ensure programmatic priorities have been met. You have: A Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or similar with 2-4 years of relevant experience. Corporate and/or healthcare space planning experience is a plusThe ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, ambiguity and inconsistency is necessary. Excellent organizational, negotiation and motivational skills.
