Facilities Management: Maintain current knowledge in the field of facilities management and building maintenance. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and repair building components and to independently plan/schedule, evaluate, and execute work orders.
Campus Security: Ensure a safe and secure school environment under the direction of the director of facilities and campus safety. Patrol campus, monitor student behavior, assist visitors, and report unsafe or unhealthy conditions. Work collaboratively with all campus personnel in order to provide a safe, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing environment.
Position may require varying work hours and days including evenings and weekends.
Monitor school activities, alarm systems, camera systems, door access, and other areas as specified by the director of facilities and campus safety.
Assist with the direction of all outside contractors including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting, landscape, and security that are on campus for projects as needed.
Patrol school facilities in order to provide a visible security presence on campus during specified hours.
Coordinate and participate in all drills and training for emergency response.
Respond to emergency situations and campus needs within the facilities department.
Under the direction of the director of facilities and campus safety, lead facilities team for all campus event setups including athletic, aquatic, theatrical, art, and academic events.
Attend staff meetings and various school-related events, discuss problems and make recommendations, and participate in conferences as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned within the facilities department.
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent (minimum of three years) experience in an appropriately related field (e.g., criminal justice, engineering, HVAC, construction management). Background with schools, youth, or similar public agencies preferred. A combination of experience and training that provides the applicant with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the stated responsibilities are essential, including training and experience in safety issues specific to youth and adolescents. Must have the technological, physical, and security training to deal with any level of potential need in the area of campus safety.
Strong interpersonal skills are critical in this role as the candidate will be interacting with parents and students on a daily basis and is expected to create a welcoming presence for the campus community at all times. Candidate should demonstrate flexibility to cope with several tasks simultaneously and have the physical and mental fitness to respond to emergency situations.
