Standardized patients are individuals who are carefully trained to portray a realistic patient experience for learners. This patient experience provides learners an opportunity to practice medical interviewing, physical exams and interpersonal communication skills. To provide the learner with an optimal learning experience, standardized patients learn all facets of a case portrayal including the patientâ™s appearance, demeanor, chief complaint, symptoms, past medical history, family history and physical findings. Standardized patients are also trained to evaluate and provide learners with specific constructive feedback, both written and oral, on their clinical performance.
High school diploma/GED required and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in acting/performing arts, education, or in health care preferred but not required
Must possess basic computer typing and data entry skills.
Ability to memorize scripted information
Excellent ability to recall learner experiences.
Exceptional communication skills
Ability to follow directions and accept constructive criticism.
Must be very reliable and able to accommodate a flexible schedule
