Under the direction of the University Director, University Systems and Security, the Director of Networking will perform all activities pertaining to voice and data networking as well as network security. The Director will have overall accountability for Network performance and uptime across our two NJ campuses, Vancouver, BC and Wroxton, England. He/she will determine the future growth of the network and act as the lead architect in developing it. He/she is accountable for the design and execution on the University’s firewall and denial of service application. The Director is responsible for network maintenance, network backups and documentation.
The Director manages the Network Team consisting of a Senior Network Operations Manager and a number of Network Analysts responsible for both network monitoring as well as daily moves, adds and changes. The incumbent is responsible for scheduling, tracking and implementation of Network projects on all FDU Campuses. He/she will also work with Facilities on all new construction, renovations and re-modeling projects on both NJ campuses.
Finally, the Director of Networking assists USAS personnel in ensuring policies and procedures are documented, maximizing departmental resources to meet the needs of the end customers. The role of Director of Networking will be instrumental in expediting current program implementations, driving excellence in execution of these programs and providing greater capability for USAS to support incremental requests, near-term and long-term.
1.Master's degree or the equivalent of related work in the area of Network Engineering plus minimum of 10 years' experience in networking and Project Management is preferred.
2.Project Management experience with Networking related projects is highly desirable. Demonstrated aptitude for managing projects to meet deadlines and objectives.
3.ITIL Certification Desirable, at a minimum the ability to demonstrate basic ITIL Foundations.
4.Cisco CCA or CCIE certifications preferred (CCNP Desirable) in routing and switching as a minimum. Significant and demonstrated experience in lieu of certifications may be considered.
5.Five years working with Cisco Catalyst switches, Cisco Nexus switches and Cisco Meraki switches.
6.Strong background in building and maintaining wireless networks, specifically using Cisco and/or Meraki Access Points, and Cisco ISE.
7.Background in perimeter based security, including Palo Alto firewalls and Arbor systems as well as other bandwidth management systems such as Exinda.
8.Background with redundant EDGE connectivity using BGP routing protocol.
9.Familiarity with Load Balancing platforms.
10.Demonstrated experience in architecting multi-campus/branch LAN & WAN networks, including but not limited to Data, VOIP, Video, and Classroom capture and lecture technologies.
11.Demonstrated experience in networked Physical Security systems, access control, Video Surveillance and the various compression and transport types.
12.Demonstrated experience in managing multiple vendors.
13.Proven success with process, process improvement, and process flows necessary. Experience in developing Business Process Analysis and implementing modifications to Business Processes across a large scale.
14.A proven track record, strong in project management with the ability to demonstrate meticulous record keeping and effective organizational skills to meet schedules and timelines.
15.Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of university personnel as well as the student body.
16.Needs to demonstrate exceptional Excel skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project.
17.Experience in tracking project financial information.
18.Strong written and verbal skills are required as well as a past history of dealing with service vendors and contracts. Any background in Networking contracts a plus; any background in construction or cabling a plus.
19.Must be flexible in working-hour assignments including evening and weekend coverage as well as working long shifts. Must be available for off hour upgrades as well as off hour emergencies.
20.Must be able to work independently and perform daily and routine tasks with a minimum of supervision. Must be self-motivated, able to take initiatives and use creativity. Must be able to make decisions when the University Director, USAS delegates projects.
21.Must have a valid driver's license and accessibility to transportation for travel between NJ campuses.
22.Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies.
23.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
