Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Facilities Project Manager for The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). This position reports to the Senior Director Project Services, manages a wide variety of construction projects from the design phase to timely completion.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Oversees the work of architects and contractors.
Acts as a liaison and advocate for the customer and develops and maintains a supportive and open relationship.
Communicates with stakeholders and provides status updates.
Provides leadership and resolves all project related issues.
Ensures timely and accurate completion of all related administrative documents and files.
Manages overall project budget and ensures the expenditures remain within budget.
Manages construction projects by ensuring departmental administrative policies and applicable regulations are adhered to.
Ensures the timely completion of tasks and time sensitive documentation are submitted in accordance with project timelines including Requests for Information (RFIs), payment applications, and change orders.
Ensures project documentation and the master file is complete and that the projected is closed out according to deadlines
Reviews options, budget, plans and schedule on projects with customers, stakeholders and keeps supervisor updated on status.
Provides leadership, promotes a professional work environment and facilitates the activities of the customer and stakeholders to ensure all departmental objectives are achieved and that the approval process is obtained.
Secures and assigns appropriate resources for successful execution of construction and contracting activities.
Ensures compliance with construction code, environmental, applicable state and federal laws and University standards.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with a minimum of five years of experience in the industry as a Construction project manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to read and review drawings.
Must be able to coordinate and execute multiple, simultaneous projects, anticipating project needs and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders throughout the process.
Must have in-depth knowledge of applicable construction codes, as well as applicable state and federal regulations.
Must possess strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
A New Jersey Engineer license is preferred.
Fifteen years of experience in the industry as a Construction project manager.
