Construction Inspectors perform technical inspection work involving public works construction and improvement projects such as grading, streets, traffic signal equipment, curbs, gutters, storm drains, sewers, sidewalks and related structures; landscape and irrigation installation; and high-speed traffic control measures. This position reports to the Construction Manager.
Construction Inspector I: Positions in this classification perform work at the entry level of the Construction Inspection job series. Employees work under close supervision and perform assignments that are more routine and repetitive in nature. Decisions are made within established procedural guidelines.
Construction Inspector II: Positions in this classification perform work at the journey level of the Construction Inspector job series. Employees work under moderate supervision with more limited guidance and direction. Work is normally reviewed only upon completion and for overall results. The Construction Inspector II tends to perform more varied inspections that involve larger or more complex jobs that include varied material use and construction standards.
Construction Inspector I:
Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position. A typical combination is a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. One to two years of experience in the construction field or related inspection work.
Construction Inspector II:
Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position. A typical combination is a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Two to three years of experience performing skilled inspection work of major construction projects for a municipality.
A valid Class C California Driver's License.
Desired Certifications: State Water Board Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certified
