Manage all Maker Space type of facilities, with comprehensive understanding of all tools, machinery and safety protocols. Reports to Director of Media Services Organization. This position will organize hiring, training, and supervise a team of teaching assistants to fulfill supervision during all open hours of Maker Spaces. Develop safety policies and ensure compliance with safety standards including hazardous material reporting. Will organize safety workshops for all students and faculty planning to use Maker Spaces, and offer individual training for specialized tools/machinery. General planning for budget, and future operations of the facility. Manage storage, materials, consumables, and scheduling of projects to ensure the space remains orderly. Repair and/or schedule repair and maintenance of machinery. May teach technically based workshops in CAMD. May manage Summer Design builds; student/faculty small construction projects generated from the Architecture Department. Will ensure safe and efficient use of Maker Spaces, and oversee priority access protocols (as approved). Perform other projects/duties as needed.
Bachelors Degree required, Masters degree preferred. 3-5 Years-experience managing and training in Maker Space type of environment. Experience with 3-D printing, CNC machinery, laser cutters and standard wood shop machinery.
