Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Iowa State Small Business Development Center (SBDC) located in Ames, Iowa is currently taking applications for a Program Manager II to act as a Regional Center Director. This position is responsible for the daily operations and funding for the ISUSBDC Regional Center. The position is responsible for program development; recruitment and development of qualified staff; managing budgets; outreach to community economic development organizations such as chambers of commerce, SCORE, Small Business Administration (SBA); and fundraising. The mission of the SBDC Regional Director is to help provide entrepreneurs start and grow a successful business. The director provides one-on-one counseling, workshops, learning opportunities, and connects entrepreneurs with appropriate resources. All for-profit small businesses will be served with a focus on those who will have an impact in the Story, Marshall, Hardin and Boone counties. The Regional Director will work closely with the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship to assist with entrepreneurship programming within and outside the university as well as technology transfer.
The successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 6 years of related experience; OR a Ph.D. or other professional degree and 3 years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
-Experience in teaching or presenting information to groups; -Experience constructing cooperative solutions with existing and prospective business owners, particularly relating to small and mid-sized businesses; -Experience in management, marketing, budgeting, planning, grant writing, and general counseling; -Experience working with influential leaders within the business, legislative, and state government communities; -Experience analyzing and communicating technical, financial, and management information solutions with existing and prospective business owners

The successful candidate should also be able to travel to counseling sessions with clients and unit sponsored events or meetings to attend or set-up and act as the host when necessary.
