Position Overview: The Fessenden School in Newton seeks an energetic individual to join its eight-person Buildings and Grounds team to help support the care and maintenance of its 41-acre campus.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Available to work between the hours of 9:30am and 6pm, Monday - Friday, some overtime as needed.
Work collaboratively as part of eight person Buildings & Grounds team.
Perform any and all general maintenance and repair tasks assigned, such as changing light bulbs, painting, hanging pictures, fixing doors, light carpentry and fulfilling work orders across 41 acre campus.
Able to use hand and power tools appropriately and safely.
Set-up and move of furniture for offices and classrooms.
Set-up and clean-up for school events; it is a key component of this position that school buildings interiors and exteriors areas be kept clean and attractive.
Assist with snow removal, using shovel or snow blower, and salting walkways.
Able to lift and move at least fifty pounds and such items as furniture, desks, and equipment.
Perform basic maintenance to HVAC systems
Be responsible to security of all school facilities end of each shift.
Be familiar with all emergency and security procedures, including fire drills and lock down drills.
Must have a valid MA driver’s license with a driving record that is deemed suitable to drive School vehicles.
Qualifications & Skills:
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
2 years consecutive related experience
General carpentry skills
Excellent verbal and communication skills
Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and customer service
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on projects
Strong organizational skills; ability to establish and manage multiple priorities
Need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma
1+ years experience in General Construction
