Advertised Summary Job Description: The Financial Manager will be responsible for reporting and trending productivity and revenues for the Division of Endocrinology. S/he will generate and distribute department and divisional dashboards including service analysis, visit data and productivity reports. Incumbent will develop ongoing reporting and trending systems to identify potential problem areas i.e. credit balances and fee discrepancies; to be addressed with divisional leads for improvement. S/he will further these discussions by providing overall resolutions and work diligently with leads to improve such. Analyst will ensure capture of all physician charges by distributing weekly and monthly missing charge reports. Compiles information regarding provider reimbursement for services including frequency, level payment, and other criteria as established by the practice areas. S/he will also prepare ADHOC reports for leadership as requested.
This position will report to the Divisional Administrator and will have frequent contact with Columbia University staff and management, CRO management, patients, and contracted vendors. This position will be expected to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with divisional managers, CRO, and CDIS project personnel, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. The Financial Manager will ensure service excellence by carrying out job responsibilities and in all interactions with patients, staff, visitors, and will conform to all applicable HIPAA, Billing Compliance, safety policies, and guidelines. Perform additional special project and responsibilities as needed.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Ability and willingness to learn new systems and programs. Proficiency in health insurance billing, collections, and eligibility as it pertains to commercial and managed care, self-pay reimbursement concepts, and overall operational impact. Ability to work independently, follow-through, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. This position requires the ability to interact positively, constructively, and effectively with employees, professional staff, community representatives, and carriers. Must be a motivated individual with a positive and exceptional work ethic. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Experience with relevant front-end or back-end billing. knowledge of computer systems including the use of spreadsheets and database programs, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel), and comprehensive knowledge medical terminology, CPT-4, and ICD-9, ICD-10-CM required
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with reporting and analysis within the cognos/data warehouse system is preferred
