Advertised Summary Job Description: ColumbiaDoctors is one of the largest multi-specialty practices in the northeast and is affiliated with world renowned Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. ColumbiaDoctors is currently looking for a Coding Manager for ColumbiaDoctors Clinical Revenue Office located in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
The CRO Coding Manager is responsible for the day to day oversight/supervision of the CRO coding unit. This position is responsible for ensuring staff are properly trained and certifications are maintained to effectively address coding denials for prompt and accurate appeals leading to reimbursement. This position will also communicate with departmental, clinical and billing staff regarding to provide educational feedback with a view to correcting root issues.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: 1. BA/BS in Business Administration, Health Services Administration or related field required. 2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a physician billing or third party payer environment. 3. Demonstrated skills in A/R management, problem assessment, and resolution and collaborative problem solving in complex, interdisciplinary settings. 4. Ability to work collaboratively with a culturally diverse staff and patient/family population, strong customer service skills, demonstrating tact and sensitivity in stressful situations. 5. Proficiency in health insurance billing, collections, and eligibility as it pertains to commercial and managed care, and self-pay reimbursement concepts and overall operational impact. 6. Ability to work independently and follow-through and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 7. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. This position requires the ability to interact positively, constructively and effectively with employees, professional staff, community representatives and carriers. 8. Must be a motivated individual with a positive and exceptional work ethic. Knowledge of computer systems including use of spreadsheets and database programs. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. 9. Ability to educate and train all levels of professional staff. 10. Ability to work independently. 11. Medical Terminology 12. Must be Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Supervisory experience. 2. Experience with IDX Billing system 3. Experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs such as Word and Excel.
