Where the Chemistry Happens
In this role, you will provide mechanical lead and equipment & machinery engineering design expertise for capital investment projects in North America. This role supports the development and execution of capital projects for new chemical plants, major expansions and debottlenecking of existing plants and infrastructure facilities. These capital investments support the BASF Corporation 2020 growth strategy and this job function helps to ensure that the investments meet the cost, schedule, and quality requirements of the responsible Business Unit.

Formula for Success
Leveraging your strong educational background and work experience in a Mechanical Engineering capacity, you will be responsible for the overall execution of the mechanical engineering scope, in accordance with the project objectives (Cost, Schedule, Functionality).
Successfully engaging across the organization, you will coordinate the Quality Assurance and Quality Control with the Mechanical QA/QC Team, as well as interdisciplinary activities/information with discipline counterparts (Process, Instrument, Civil, Electrical, Piping).
Demonstrating your robust technical knowledge, you will develop specifications for complex equipment, machinery and package units. You will also review and approve vendor drawings and calculations of those units according to industry code and BASF technical and safety standards compliance.
Utilizing your skills in collaboration, you will consult with Operations, vendors and other stakeholders throughout design, construction and startup.
Your proven project management experience will be a valued asset as you monitor the work of contractors for specification compliance, safety and quality requirements, schedule and cost effectiveness.
