Plant Operations provides facilitiessupport for all construction, renovation, and routine maintenance of UniversityCentral space and facilities; housekeeping services for approximately 5.8million square feet of academic, administrative, residential, and recreationalspace; grounds care for 330 acres that are a registered arboretum; turf carefor athletic fields; and utilities for the University Central and the MedicalCenter.
Facilities annual budget exceeds$100 million in operating expenses and includes over 400 employees. Facilities manages major capital project expenditures totaling ~$125 millionannually and facility renewal, replacement and large maintenance projectexpenditures totaling ~$20 million annually.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot electrical circuits
Start and test run emergency generators and log results
Repair, replace, or install the following components of an electrical system:
Wire tents for special events
Hook up power to television trucks
Properly dispose of lamps,ballasts, and batteries
Operate various types of lifts
Assist zone HAR mechanics, plumber,and carpenter in the performance of their duties
Utilize work order system in allaspects including parts ordering, printing work orders, parts look-up
Able to stand, stoop, crawl, work on elevated surfaces and be in awkwardpositions for extended periods of time.
Push, pull, lift and carry at least 70 pounds.
Able to work in various weather conditions
Valid driver's license
High work ethic
Journeyman Electrician License are preferred
WORKING HOURS: 7:30 am to 4:00 p.m. – Monday – Friday Must be available to work additional hours as required including evening hours.
