The Theatrical Carpenter is responsible for constructing staging/sets and maintains and sets up main floor of Reed Arena for events.
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
One year carpentry experience in building stage and theatrical sets.
Other Requirements and Factors:
Able to lift and move heavy equipment.
Have correctable eyesight and hearing.
Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Two years building trade experience with sets and stages.
Performs set-up at Reed Arena, including assembling/disassembling basketball court, loading and unloading trucks (operates forklift), setting up equipment, furnishings, staging, pipe & drapes and seating.
Performs skilled trades for special events such as painting and carpentry work.
Responsible for repairing and maintaining arena seats, including replacing seat numbers, armrests and missing bolts.
Works back of house during events.
Repairs and maintains area, platforms, dressing room facilities, locker rooms and other items are need for events.
Assists Arena Foreman with light maintenance and upkeep of HVAC equipment.
Performs preventative maintenance, repairs and service work on machinery, equipment, tools and fixtures. Changes light bulbs.
Operates and maintains fly systems in arena or multipurpose facility.
Supervises student labor during change overs. Other duties as assigned.
