Where the Chemistry Happens
BASF Construction Chemicals launched the Six Sigma methodology in April of 2016 to help drive continuous improvement in the organization. The RBU has now progressed to the point of needing more in-house expertise. The Master Black Belt (MBB) for the Construction Chemicals business is an agent for driving the implementation and institutionalization of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology across the organization. With the support of the Deployment Manager, this person is responsible for leading and implementing large scale improvement projects to both improve the business results and transform the culture into a sustainable continuous improvement mentality.
The primary function of the LSS MBB is to help find and assist in solving large scale problems. As a MBB, he/she will be critical in helping to recognize, analyze, prioritize, and drive opportunities for improvement across all aspects of the business. He or she is responsible for managing LSS project teams focused on reducing cycle time, minimizing inventory, increasing productivity, improving yield and on increasing the quality and performance of our products and processes. As the project leader, the MBB will be responsible for successful project identification, implementation, and project tracking. The MBB will use statistical software packages to analyze data, design experiments, and implement statistical control tracking. He or she will also assist with training and mentoring Green Belts (GB) and other personnel in both the Six Sigma and Lean methodologies, as well as application of specific tools that can be used outside of the formal projects.
