This position will provide design and technical support for Fire Alarms & Elevator Contracts, prioritize maintenance & upgrades; testing and commissioning of works and ensure all projects are executed on time and within budget. Serves as contact for OSHA compliance office & Fire Marshal Inspections. Maintains updated elevator types & locations. Manage any elevator modernization upgrades for MR&R projects. Provide information to Auditor as needed. Keep all documentation for minimum of 5 years. Customer Service & Communication is a high priority. Perform other duties as required. JOB DUTIES:
35% - Essential - Elevator Contract Management: Provides engineering support to customers by providing designs, drawings and plans and directs, inspects and coordinates work of elevator contract personnel. Ensures elevator licensing is current and posted as required by law. Supervises and conducts pre-construction activities, including timely and accurate plan reviews. Offers suggestions to improve building systems and equipment reliability to reduce repair cost. Act as liaison between Clemson University and the elevator contractor. Works with LLR for elevator inspections & Licensing. Work closely with contractor to acquire costs & prioritize elevator upgrades in 3 year increments. Provide customer service and communication with various contractors, other trades workers & technical support.
30% - Essential - Fire Alarm Computer Systems: Tests and evaluates technical materials, equipment systems and facilitate the Simplex Fire Alarm contract is adhered. Acts as the liaison between Clemson University and the Fire Alarm contractor. Coordinates and supervises the tie-in locations for installation, maintenance on all automation & fire alarm computer systems including fiber optic cables, connectors & fire alarm panels. Work closely with contractor to acquire costs & prioritize Fire Alarm upgrades in 3 year increments. Reviews proposed changes to building codes, state laws and contracts and makes appropriate recommendations. Maintain all documentation as required by SC Law.
20% - Essential - Fire Extinguisher Contract: Supervises or performs work with OSHA Compliance Officer, Fire Marshal & AHJ to ensure installation, maintenance and building inspection work orders are created for all inspection deficiencies for fire alarm & chemical suppressions. Coordinate inspections annually. Keep spare parts as needed.
10% - Essential - Project management: Prioritize Elevator & Fire Alarm upgrades/renovations and provide cost for Maintenance, Repair &Renovation Projects. Works closely with Project Managers & contractors, communicates with building occupants, schedules upgrades and to make sure codes are followed and to University Standards. Review changes, drawings, specifications & make recommendations to contractor to ensure all policies are followed.
5% - Essential - Safety: Promotes & encourages a safe workplace & work practices. Complies with all applicable safety & health directives. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or engineering technology and entry-level engineering or architectural work experience. RESPONSIBILITIES:
