Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Course instructor (OSHA) for the School of Public Health. Under the direction of the OPHP Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Program Manager, the Course Instructor provides instructional support for hazardous waste, construction safety and general industry training.
Develops and updates training curriculum to train OSHA Construction and General Industry trainers.
Facilitates multiple day courses.
Conducts training in either a one-on-one or group setting.
Demonstrates procedures being taught that satisfy the training curriculum.
Observes and assists trainees to achieve training objectives.
Assists with student assessments.
Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions.
Provides administrative support as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Five (5) years of general industry safety experience.
A college degree in occupational safety and health, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.
Must hold OSHA Construction and General Industry Trainer credentials along with HAZWOPER. Candidate must also be a board certified Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST).
Training: Complete OSHA course #511, Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry. This course covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles. Other: Completion of OSHA course #501, Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for General Industry is required. Training: Complete OSHA course #510, Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry. This course covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as construction safety and health principles. Other: Completion of OSHA course #500, Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to provide OSHA construction, disaster worker, general industry, and hazardous waste operations training.
Must wear proper personal protective equipment during workshop training exercise instruction and during workshop preparation.
Must be able to travel to offsite training locations in New York and New Jersey.
