CHELCO owns and operates the distribution and transmission system on Eglin AFB through a 50-year utility privatization contract.

We’re looking for a Manager of Engineering, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Engineering and Operations, to help us achieve our vision of improved quality of life for our members, employees, and communities.

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 8 years directly related experience or Master’s degree in Engineering with 4 years directly related experience;
A Florida Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain it in less than 1 year after employment.
A management certification of some kind and experience leading a diverse group of individuals is a plus.
Must be familiar with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) database and WorldView map display.
Experience with the Yukon Feeder Automation (YFA) system is preferred.
Must have knowledge of NESC, NEC, OSHA and local, state, and federal codes.
Manages the Engineering Department, which includes, but is not limited to ensuring adequate staffing to accomplish all projects on a timely, cost effective schedule and providing needed training to employees through direct coaching, mentoring and external training resources.
Directly supervises the Engineering Design Supervisor, the Power Quality Supervisor, the Engineering Support Specialist, and an electrical engineer
Manages and implements CHELCO’s System Design and Operational Criteria.
Manages and implements Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system
Directs the development of two year, four year, ten year, and twenty year work plans to ensure adequate service capability within CHELCO’s electrical system.
Directs the development of practices and procedures that address the reliability, economics, and timely construction of electric facilities.
Analyzes workflow for improvement in productivity, cost, and overall efficiency.
Develops work plan budgets that adequately meet the department needs and operating expenses.
