DUTIES: Responsible for the operation and repair of SUNY Downstate Medical Center Power and Physical Plants including high pressure boilers, centrifugal and absorption, achillers,building control/automation HAVC systems/distribution emergency generators and related systems Assign tasks, follow-up on assignments, and supervise a staff of 45 PUE's, plant staff and mechanical maintenance workers. Prepare and plan scedules for three (3) shifts for the operations of the campus. Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance Programs. Implement and supervise test of emergency generators. Supervise maintenance contracts and repairs whenever emergency conditions arise. Coordinate construction and repairs with contractors, shops and hospital personnel and maintain written records/logs on repairs, contractors and maintenance jobs. Assist Director of Physical Plant Operations & Maintenance as required for the continued reliable and safe operation of the power plant. Maintain logs required by Joint Commission, NYS Department of Health, and other regulatory agencies. Remain aware of changes affecting the operaton of the power plant. Attend meetings pertaining to operations and maintenance of the power plant and personnel. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: At least ten years experience in PlANT maintenance and operation. A strong background in operations and repair of mechanical equipment. Knowledge of power plant operations, utility systems, maintenance operations, preventative activities. Must have leadership skills and ability to direct, coordinate and supervise multidiciplinary technical staff. PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree. Formal technical training in plant equipment repairs. Stationary engineer license or equivalent. Additional Info: * Represents Location Pay for full-time appointees.
