Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, directs the planning, development and environmental division for the Metropolitan Airports Commission's (MAC) system of airports. The division consists of engineers, architects, project managers, technicians and support staff. Provides strategic leadership, policy direction and management for the environmental, airport planning and capital infrastructure for the MAC's seven airports. Establishes and maintains effective long term relationships with surrounding communities, local, state and federal agencies, the airlines and general aviation users in the MAC's system of airports.
As a member of the senior staff for the MAC, contributes to the leadership, strategic direction and success of the organization. Serves as staff liaison to the Planning, Development and Environment Committee (PD&E), acting as the advisor to the committee chair regarding critical environmental and development issues and decisions facing the organization.
The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) owns and operates the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and six smaller general aviation airports within the metro area. The MAC chairman and 14 commissioners meet monthly to represent the interests of the community in decisions related to these airports. Citizens are welcome to attend the meetings.
The MAC's chairman and 12 of the 14 co...mmissioners are appointed by the Governor of Minnesota. Eight of the 12 commissioners represent districts within the metropolitan area, while the remaining four represent the interests of outstate Minnesota.
