Irvine Ranch Water District seeks a Construction Inspection Supervisor who will perform inspections on capital and subdivision construction projects, including sewer, water and recycled water pipelines, pumping stations, pressure reducing stations, sewage lift stations, treatment plants, reservoirs and other facilities and ensure conformance of these facilities with plans and specifications.
Summary of Duties: Supervises, plans, and coordinates the work of staff engaged in construction inspections; acts as liaison between the District and outside contractors on large or specialized construction projects, including treatment plant inspection, pump station inspection, lift station inspection, pipeline inspection, and well inspection.
Inspects, monitors, and conducts sampling and records construction and installations to ensure compliance with project documents, and District standards, including those pertaining to reinforcing steel and concrete placement, pipeline valves, fittings, and other appurtenances; major mechanical and electrical installation including treatment plants, pump stations, wells, lift stations and the power supplies therein; structural masonry; instrumentation; earthwork; irrigation systems and landscaping; major gaseous and liquid fed chlorine systems; heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; and welds on piping, pumping stations and lift stations; inspects the line and grade of pipelines, excavation of trenches and the installation of large water and sewer pipes.
Maintains project documentation through daily status reports; charts progress of contract schedules via project meetings; records and maintains project files; records as-built information on project drawings; reviews, files, and maintains shop drawing submittals; incorporates change orders; creates punch lists; submits and reviews monthly pay estimates; reviews contractor change orders and makes recommendations for changes.
Reviews assigned project plans and specifications with consulting engineers at various stages; makes recommendations on modifications of plans and specifications.
Verifies that items on the punch list have been completed and corrected; verifies that certificates, manuals, and other contractor data are applicable to installations; verifies that tests, equipment, system startups and maintenance are conducted as required by contracts.
Reviews and examines materials delivered to the site for installation to verify their conformance to specifications; performs and documents, using standard applicable testing procedures and forms, compliance and suitability of materials for installation and application.
Operates surveying equipment to verify vertical and horizontal alignment, location of structures, elevation of pipe, vault structures and other utilities; operates a variety of safety equipment; obtains measurements as pipeline is being installed; verifies placement of form work, placement of reinforced steel, concrete quality, expansion and sealant materials and welded joints.
Reviews and submits to the contractor a list of observed items requiring completion or correction prior to substantial completion; conducts final inspection in the company of District representatives, engineers and contractors.
Assists in developing District construction standards by drafting proposed revisions to existing standards.
Provides project supervision and guidance to consultant inspectors.
Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Construction Inspection Manager in their absence.
Comply with District safety work-related practices and attend relevant safety training.
