Description: This position will remain open until filled. For full consideration, application and materials should be received by May 31, 2017. Assist with highly skilled journeyman-level trades work such as carpentry work in support of institutional construction or remodel needs, in addition to skilled maintenance and repair and infrastructure systems such as plumbing and space remodeling etc. Perform a variety of tasks consisting of routine building maintenance, minor equipment replacements, interior and exterior remodeling projects, and campus/building signage that will ensure the smooth and continuous functions of college buildings, equipment, and grounds at multiple campus sites.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Perform a variety of routine maintenance in support of institutional needs including, but not limited to, carpentry/minor remodeling, sheetrock work , repairing damaged surfaces on interior and exterior of buildings, relocating shelving and wall mounted bookcases, installing modular wall partitions, installing chalk boards and white boards) retrofitting cabinets, Misc. plumbing needs and repairs. Misc. projects, repair or replace classroom furniture at times assembling furniture, relocate furniture and work stations. At times you might install banners where required throughout the different seasons and events, as directed by the F/T maintenance lead. Prepare cost and labor estimates on various work order projects throughout multiple campus sites. Work with Maintenance F/T Lead to provide accurate cost estimating to insure the lowest cost solutions to maintenance issues. Maintain records and logs on all your outstanding Facilities Work Orders. Perform preventive maintenance as required, adhering to a program and schedule in order to reduce down time of critical systems and equipment. Attend meetings and provide feedback on maintenance issues in your area of responsibility. Purchasing supplies, equipment and materials from vendors using blanket purchase orders all receipts and packing slips are to be turned into the Maintenance F/T Lead daily. Assist other maintenance workers in various maintenance projects and event setups as needed and helps other campus service departments complete their tasks. Maintain cooperative working relationship with College staff, other organizations, and the public. Follow all safety rules and procedures for work areas. This job is essential to the operation of the College during emergency or other critical situations as identified by administration. As such, the College has designated this position as Essential Personnel.
AUXILIARY JOB FUNCTIONS: May provide assistance to other college personnel as workload and staffing levels dictate. Maintain proficiency by attending training and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner. MINIMUM/MANDATORY EDUCATION AND MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: Equivalent to high school plus additional applied trades training and at least four years' experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES: Valid Driver's License. Being able to perform in a professional manor at all times, Within 6 months of hire, must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. Duties are physically demanding requiring coordination and moving materials weighing up to 90 pounds. Movement of materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds consumes over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as hand tools, power tools, and computers. Work is occasionally performed in restricted and secured spaces such as: construction areas, utility service tunnels and similar or on high lifts and booms, scaffolds, and other devices.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties take place inside and outside of buildings with exposure to dirt, oil, loud and continuous noise, chemicals, hazardous waste, limited access areas, heights, and all types of weather conditions on a year-round basis. Requires use of variety of protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, face masks, knee pads, safety glasses, hardhat, and gloves.
This position work hours are Monday thru Friday, Eight hour days. Starting each day at 7:00 am PST to 3:30 pm PST.
May be called back into work for emergencies and other projects that may be scheduled for other than regular work hours. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervision of others is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel, and may assign work to student workers.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of the Director, for the Campus Services Division. The Maintenance Lead will prioritize tasks and makes minor decisions on the spot without immediate consultation with the Director.
