SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May supervise summer painters
General Statement of Duties: The Skilled Laborer performs various manual tasks in support of the work of skilled tradesmen and craftsmen, including but not limited to painters, carpenters, plumbers, steamfitters, grounds, etc. The incumbent of this position will be mechanically inclined, with general skill in the trades. S/he will work autonomously and with licensed tradesmen, depending upon the job requirements.

1.(E) Performs general repairs to fixtures and equipment, including but not limited to screens, door locks, walls, hinges, drawer slides, door closers, and dorm furniture.
2.(E) Paints walls, trim, railings, and other structures; supervises summer painters.
3.(E) Inspects and troubleshoots equipment for issues to determine if it should be repaired or replaced; reports to appropriate authority; makes necessary repairs within purview.
4.(E) Moves furniture and equipment.
5.(E) Opens clogged catch basins, drains, sewer lines, etc.
6.(E) Hangs fixtures on the wall, including but not limited to bulletin boards and white boards.
7.(E) Replaces floor tiles and carpet squares.
8.(E) Replaces vinyl base.
9.(E) Serves as essential personnel during inclement weather and other non-weather related emergencies.
10.(E) Performs manual tasks in connection with snow and ice removal; operates light trucks, plows, sanders, snow blowers, shovels, and other equipment.
11.(E) Changes light bulbs, frequently using ladders or scaffolding.
12.May assist in cleaning duties during peak periods to ensure the general cleanliness of facilities.
13.Performs other duties as assigned within the Skilled Laborer classification.

1. At least six months of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in performing manual labor in connection with general construction or maintenance work. 2. Possess and maintain a current and valid drivers license. 3. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and background check. 4. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 45 pounds. 5. Skill in using hand-held power tools and a variety of motorized equipment. 6. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. 7. Ability to work in a team setting and autonomously. 8. Ability to climb and work from ladders and scaffolds. 9. Manual dexterity and aptitude. 10. Physical stamina and endurance. 11. Ability to perform the essentials functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
1. 2 -3 years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in performing manual labor in connection with general construction or maintenance work. 2. 6 months of supervising experience. 3. Computer literacy; ability to read and respond to work orders through a software program. 4. Knowledge of the practices and techniques of painting; knowledge of types and uses of painting materials such as paint, varnishes, stains, brushers, rollers, sprayers, etc. 5. Knowledge of building components (doors, hardware, windows, flooring, finishes) 6. Knowledge of lock hardware and ability to make repairs. 7. Current and valid hoisting license.

Salary: $650.59 per week ($33,830.36 per year) Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
