Administrative and Business services (A&BS) provides on-going operational support and strategic recommendations to campus executive management regarding the most effective allocation and use of campus resources to meet UC Irvine's goals and objectives. A&BS has ten reporting departments: Facilities Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Design & Construction Services, Accounting and Fiscal Services, Police, Purchasing and Risk Services, Transportation & Distribution Services, Internal Audit, Scanning & Passport Services, and UCI UC Path Office. Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor, the Chief of Staff plays a critical support role in strategic planning, decision-making, and execution of decisions, serving as a member of the Vice Chancellor's management team and other advisory groups. The incumbent works closely with senior leaders to realize the campus vision. The Chief of Staff provides the highest level of analysis and advice to the Vice Chancellor and other senior leaders and coordination and liaison with other senior campus officials on virtually any matter of interest to the Vice Chancellor, including policy, operational initiatives, programs, and personnel. The Chief of Staff provides administrative leadership on initiatives, including the design and management of projects and programs, integral to UCIs financial health, academic excellence, and productivity. The Chief of Staff represents the Vice Chancellor in all manner of situations with tact and diplomacy and requires a dedication to consultation and consensus-building. The incumbent manages A&BS communications and ensures that high-priority projects and initiatives are effectively and efficiently managed. The Chief of Staff manages confidential and sensitive issues for the Vice Chancellor. Working closely with senior campus officials, the Chief of Staff manages special campus committees. The Chief of Staff performs a wide range of duties requiring tact, sensitivity, independent judgment, diplomacy, organizational skills, flexibility, and strict confidentiality. Must have the ability to articulate the vision, mission and values of A&BS and the campus and interpret and implement procedures, processes and policies.
