East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is seeking qualified professionals to apply for the Manager of Wastewater Engineering, a position that reports directly to the Director of Wastewater and is a key member of the Wastewater Management Team. The Wastewater Engineering Division is responsible for the planning, design, and construction of the approximately $200 million five-year capital improvement program to support the EBMUD Wastewater System, and includes a staff comprised of over 50 engineers, construction inspectors, and clerical support staff.
The ideal candidate will have had substantial experience in managing large projects; overseeing programs to meet or exceed regulatory requirements; and managing multiple high priority programs and projects through the effective management of resources. Given the highly responsible nature of the work performed, strong technical, design, managerial, and communication skills are essential.
The annual salary is $136,008 up to $196,452. Initial placement within the range is based upon qualifications. Appointment is typically made at or below the control point ($176,808 per year).
Any combination of education and experience that has led to the acquisition of the knowledge and abilities indicated above. Typical means of acquiring the essential knowledge and abilities is a combination of training and experience equivalent to:
1. California State Registration as a Professional Engineer, and
2. A bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, with major work in engineering or other closely related field, and either
3a. Six years of supervisory experience in an engineering organization or consulting company where experience included planning and designing improvements to water/wastewater system and facilities; or
3b. Six years of supervisory experience at the Senior Engineer level or higher where experience included planning and designing improvements to water/wastewater system and facilities, and
4. A valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
