Responsibilities:One-on-one consultations with students and postdocs (40%)- Conduct individual 50-minute meetings with graduate students and postdocs who seek help with interviewing and public speaking skills. - Provide positive, constructive feedback as well as concrete tips and strategies on general and specific oral communication needs.- Direct students to other resources as needed- Record advising notes in Symplicity at the end of each session- Respond to follow-up inquiries from students by email- Maintain and grow personal knowledge of interview and public speaking theory and best practices Workshop and resource development and execution (30%)- Develop and deliver oral-communications related workshops across campus.- Coordinate with campus partners to design and customize workshops and programs to fit the needs of various populations of graduate students and postdocs.- Generate new materials (powerpoints and handouts) and tailor existing materials for custom programs that serve specific student populations- Develop new digital and written resources an update existing resources as neededAdministrative duties (30%)- Lead team of 2-4 graduate student consultants including hiring new consultants as needed.- Serve as primary reporting contact for consultants and manage workflow and calendar coordination for all GRADTalk advising and programs.- Maintain timely communication with Director of Graduate Career Development, GRADTalk consultants and other stakeholders including administrative and faculty partners- Attend weekly career development team meetings- Participate in relevant professional training as assigned
