JOB SUMMARY: The Construction Coordinator facilitates the construction-related activities necessary to complete new construction and renovation projects in a safe, timely, and organized manner with minimal disruptions to the Campus and Medical Center.
Works with project manager, construction managers, architects, engineers, consultants and contractors to coordinate the capital project during the design phase.
Assists the project manager as required during the approval process of construction manager's initiated invoices, change orders, additional services requests, and shop drawing submittals.
Assists the project manager as required with coordination of design changes during the construction phase.
Expertly coordinates various activities during the construction phase of the capital project.
Performs daily oversight of construction and renovation projects in concert with the project manager including: (1) invoice review and approval for construction manager's payment applications and other vendors, (2) construction coordination and problem resolution as required with on-site issues/problems in conjunction with construction manager, architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and VUMC project manager, and (3) communications and meeting participation with VUMC personnel and the construction manager.
Assists with on-site mobilization of contractors and liaisons between contractors and building occupants to insure the least amount of disruption during construction.
Participates in the Architect Construction Manager Owner (ACMO) coordination meetings; focusing on normal, daily construction issues including project safety, utility shutdowns & daily.
Coordinates delivery of owner furnished equipment (OFE) and assists with ordering whenever necessary.
Coordinates utility shutdowns and tie-ins with building occupants, Plant Services, and construction manager. Provides advanced notification of shutdowns to appropriate entities.
Manages small construction/renovation projects as required utilizing in-house or outside resources as needed.
Coordinates and attends various project inspections to insure compliance with construction documents, codes, and other building regulations. This includes coordinating and performing on-site safety, quality control, and State Health inspections problems and investigates reports of faulty or substandard workmanship and/or materials.
Assists project manager as required with communication and meeting participation between VUMC personnel and the CM.
Coordinates the inspection and abatement of asbestos and other environmental issues for construction renovation projects performed by the department.
Coordinates and performs on-site safety inspections of construction projects as assigned in conjunction with the construction manager's safety officer.
Assists project managers, architects, construction managers, contractors, and building users in successfully achieving final completion of the capital project.
Assists as required with the coordination of the installation of furniture and equipment in conjunction with construction manager interface of services.
Develops keying schedule with the project users and the construction manager. Facilitates the key distribution to various groups.
Assists architects, construction managers, building users, and project managers in achieving final completion and acceptance of projects.
Coordinates the In-Service training of Plant Services for areas of new construction.
Participates in State and Metro inspections in concert with the project manager.
Assists with project commissioning in concert with the project manager, construction manager, and architects/engineers.
Vocational / Technical Degree (or equivalent experience) and 3 years relevant experience
