45% Provides effective University representation and construction management of assigned projects by coordinating all construction activity on these projects to include: project design, development of construction documents and specifications, preparation of project estimates and budgets, receipt and evaluation of project proposals and site observation of construction. Reviews project close-out plans and estimates for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to applicable standards, codes, policies, and procedures. Provides project oversight to ensure construction complies with contract documents, safety, quality and cost expectations. Reviews project for completeness and financial outcomes, and submits documentation for payment and project close-out. Proficiently uses the eBuilder construction software program
20% Provides verification oversight of SSC activities on behalf of the University. Makes weekly rounds of buildings and grounds to assure SSC compliance with contract requirements and stakeholders satisfaction. Makes one monthly round at night to provide analysis of lighting, safety and after-hours condition of the campus. Interacts professionally and courteously with faculty and staff to elicit compliments, complaints and criticisms to further the customer service and operational goals of the Vendor Management Department. Provides a weekly, written report detailing verification oversight and relationship building with stakeholders.
20% Participates in the departmentâ™s Work Order management program. Evaluates Work Order requests requiring construction activity for appropriateness, adherence to University standards and policies, safety, efficacy and economic impact. Professionally and courteously interacts with faculty and staff to clarify needs and manage expectations. Serves as a liaison between SSC, construction contractors, faculty and staff. Participates in the departmentâ™s daily call back of faculty, staff and students requesting Work Orders to verify completion, enhance customer satisfaction and determine any additional needs or concerns. 10% Provides exemplary customer service. Escalates difficult, unresolved or sensitive customer service issues to Director of Vendor Management as soon as identified. Participates in the Vendor Management Complaint Resolution Log to trend occurrences and promote resolution of every occurrence.
5% - Performs other tasks as directed to ensure the success of the vendor management team and create value for the University. Requires work during event hours .
Required Education and Experience: Bachelorâ™s degree in Building Construction, Architecture, Engineering, Applied Sciences or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Five years of experience in construction related work or in design and planning facilities including field observation of construction and interaction with end users
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of building systems, fire and life safety codes, building codes and accessibility standards. Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing applications. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and customer service skills
