1. Makes, assembles or repairs case work, molding, trim and other products made of wood or related building materials. 2. Ensures wood products are constructed in accordance with prepared designs and drawings as specified by the department. 3. Glues, clamps and fits sub-assemblies to form finished units. Sands, scrapes, and preps surfaces for finishes. 4. Operates multiple millwork machines such as shapers, table saws, mortise & tenon machine and planers. 5. Reads blueprints and develops material list. 6. Possesses advanced knowledge of wood jointing techniques and refinishing methods and exhibits the ability to apply this knowledge in situations where detailed design documents are not available. 7. Sprays, paints, clear finishes, and stains using various products that are applied to doors, furniture, cabinets, trim for wood and metal. This includes buff lacquer, urethane and shellac finishes. 8. Mixes ingrediency to create specific finishes for brushing, spraying, hand rub finishing ingrediency such as paint, oil, stain or wax on wood, metal or any surface. Applies lacquer sealers and other finishes such as urethanes, varnish, paint and other finishes. 9. Removes old finishes and damaged area by stripping with the appropriate tools and material. Fills in cracks or depressions, remove marks and imperfections. Smooth shape and touch up surfaces and prep for finishing. 10. Performs quality checks according to quality standards. 11. Anticipates and responds to customer needs. Works with Supervisor to resolve customer service issues in a professional and efficient manner. 12. Maintains clean work area and/or clean job site. Maintains basic preventive maintenance on spray booths and equipment. 13. Operates equipment safely and follows OSHA guidelines and all departmental and University wide safety guidelines. 14. Performs assignments under limited supervision. Directs and trains lower labor grade employees, and sometimes equal labor grade. Reviews and directs the work of employees under the direction of the supervisor. 15. Performs related duties as required or assigned within job classification.
