Academic Director (Grades 4-12) CTD Summer Program 2019
The CTD Summer Program provides a unique, rigorous, and fun academic summer camp for students in grades 4-12 on Northwestern’s beautiful Evanston campus. The Academic Director works on the academic of student support, and works with their collaborative team to create an unparalleled experience for students and families from around the country and across the globe.
Job Summary: Academic Directors (ADs) serve as primary point of contact for all instructional staff, students and parents for their specific program. The AD collaborates with the Program Coordinator to ensure the academic component of each program is meeting expectations, and leads the team of instructors and teaching assistants. There are three AD positions available, one per grade band (grades 4-6; grades 6-8; grades 9-12). Full-time, on-campus work June 18-August 9, 2019; final tasks remotely August 12-16, 2019. Salary $6,400 - $6,600 depending on CTD Summer Program experience.
Learn and implement CTD policies and procedures.
Uphold and promote the CTD Honor Code among staff and students.
Assume program-related responsibilities as requested by CTD administrative staff.
Serve as head of academic affairs, responding to staff and family concerns in a timely manner.
Support instructional staff, encourage collaboration between instructors and teaching assistants, and gather information through classroom observations; provide timely, meaningful and constructive feedback to academic staff regarding documentation and instructional activities.
Communicate with families regarding academic concerns.
Appropriately address and document staff and student conduct issues.
Respond to student concerns and needs in a positive and supportive manner.
Train instructional staff on evaluation systems and CTD policy/procedures.
Generate, organize, and distribute academic data and documents.
Inform administrative staff of student or staff concerns as appropriate.
Track confidential student health information and communicate to instructional staff as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field and minimum of 5 years teaching experience required.
Effective interpersonal and organizational skills and supervisory experience in a fast-paced academic setting.
Curriculum development, conflict management, customer service, evaluation experience, and experience with PowerSchool or similar school information systems highly desired.
Must be able to lift and/or maneuver at least 40lbs.
Must be able to traverse distances with or without accommodation of at least one mile.
