Inspect material and equipment installations, contractor's workmanship, and work in progress to ensure conformance with requirements of plans, specifications, approved shop drawings, building and safety codes, laws, regulations, industry standards, and other guidelines.
Assist with punch list inspections as necessary.
Maintain detailed inspection reports verifying compliance or non-compliance with contract requirements.
Report unusual or unexpected inspection results to the appropriate Construction Project Manager, Construction Engineer, or other designated supervisor.
Prepare hand drawn sketches of construction installations which deviate from the contract documents for incorporation into the final as-build drawing.
Review plans, specifications, and related documents during the design phase of construction projects to ensure accuracy, completeness, design discipline, constructability, conformance with building codes, laws, industry standards, campus design standards, and requirements of the Consultant's Procedures and Design Guidelines manual; submit comments to the appropriate Construction Project Manager, Construction Engineer, or other designated individual overseeing the project; attend design review meetings as required.
Perform visual surveys of existing facilities as required during the plan review process to ensure proposed installations of material and equipment is feasible.
Provide written recommendations for modifying and/or establishing campus design standards for inclusions in the Consultant's Procedures and Design Guidelines manual
Coordinate equipment and system commissioning requirements; confirm manufacturer's recommended procedures are followed during start-up and testing; witness testing and verify the startup, training, and commissioning activities of the construction contractor; ensure commissioning records, reports, and documentation is completed and submitted for all equipment and components tested; assist in developing project specific commissioning during the design phase.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications Experience in electrical and mechanical systems and installations
Ten years' experience in construction.
